Crossroads School
Performing Arts Building
Santa Monica, California

Created by converting an existing single story industrial structure, this Performing Arts Center re-uses only the footings and exterior walls of the original building. Clerestory windows light the two-story atrium surrounded by classrooms. Krismar worked with school administrators and the internationally known architects from the inception of the plan. This early involvement facilitated the interchange of construction materials and methods and resulted in budgetary savings without design sacrifices.

Crossroads School
Library
Santa Monica, California

The second project by Krismar for Crossroads School is a 10,000 sq.ft. two-story library/classroom complex of steel, glass and plaster, with concrete block shearwalls. Built in the midst of an active (700 student) high school campus, the Library was tightly sandwiched between existing structures on a site with no public street access for equipment or deliveries. Working within these constraints, Krismar responded quickly to minimize the impact of client changes, finishing this educational center on schedule, and within the original budget.
