Bradbury Building
Historic Office Building
Los Angeles, California

The imposing atrium court of this National Historic 1893 Landmark has appeared in numerous films and publications. The new owner chose Krismar to restore this masterpiece to its original elegance, and at the same time, modernize the mechanical/ electrical facilities and add the last phase of seismic retrofit.

Working with the restoration architect and numerous consultants, interior hardwood, marble and tile were carefully stripped of age-darkened finish, the complex skylight was reworked, a new portico was built and improvements were made in plumbing, electrical distribution, air conditioning, sprinklers, and the much photographed open-cage elevator system.
